Crochet Shell Stitch Skater Dress Free Pattern: Part 2 | Crochet Shell Stitch Skirt Free Pattern

This is a two-part tutorial series in which you can learn to make this crochet bralette and continue to convert it into a crochet shell stitch dress. Below you will see the free crochet pattern and tutorial to make the skirt part of this dress in this post. 

You can find the Part 1 pattern and tutorial here, where we will be making the bralette top. Also, I wanted to mention that the free pattern in part 2 is helpful for anyone who is looking to learn how to crochet a center increase with the shell stitch pattern. In addition, you’ll also learn how to do this crochet shell stitch pattern in the round.

Materials

• E Hook / 3.5 mm Hook 
• Medium Weight 4 Yarn (I don’t have an accurate estimate, sorry)

Stitch Key

• Ch – Chain
• St – Stitch
• Sl St – Slip Stitch
• Sk – Skip
• Sc – Single Crochet
• Dc – Double Crochet
• Shell – 5 Double Crochets in the same stitch

Skirt Free Crochet Pattern

Reattach yarn to the center back seam on the outside of the garment, with seam inside to work along bottom side of band. 

Row 1: Ch 1, sc in first valley, 2 sc in every valley, sl st in sc.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc and spaced out 2 sc in the same st so that this row is increased to 192 (204, 216, 240, 264, 300, 312) sc in the row, sl st in sc.

Row 3: Ch 1, turn, *sc, sk 2, shell, sk 2*, repeat * around,  sl st in sc. 

Row 4: Ch 2, turn, 3 dc in sc, *sk 2, sc, sk 2, shell*, repeat * around until 2 st left, 2 dc in 1st sc, sl st in dc.

***Repeat rows 3 and 4 until row 10 is complete.  

Row 11: Ch 1, turn, *sc, sk 2, shell, sk 2, (sc + ch 1 + sc) in same st, sk 2, shell, sk 2*, repeat * around. 

Row 12: Ch 2, turn,  3 dc, *[sk 2, sc, sk 2, shell] repeat [ ] until (sc + ch + sc) of previous row, shell in 1st sc, sc in c1h1 sp, shell in next sc*, repeat * around until 2 st left, sk 2, 2 dc in first sc of previous row, sl st in sc. 

Row 13: Ch 1, turn,  *sc, sk 2, shell, sk 2*, repeat * around, sl st in sc. 

Row 14: Ch 2, turn,  3 dc, *[sk 2, sc, sk 2, shell] until shell above the previous increase,  (sc + ch 1 + sc) in middle dc of shell above previous increase*, repeat around until 2 st left, sk 2, 2 dc in same st as the first 3 dc of the row, sl st in dc. 

Row 15: Ch 1, turn, *[sc, sk 2, shell, sk 2], repeat [ ] until (sc + ch + sc) of previous row, shell in 1st sc, sc in ch1 sp, shell in next sc, sk 2*, repeat * around, sl st in sc. 

Row 16: Ch 2, turn,  3 dc, *sk 2, sc, sk 2, shell*, repeat * around until 2 st left, sk 2, 2 dc in same st as the first 3 dc of the row, sl st in sc.

Row 17: Ch 1, turn, *[sc, sk 2, shell, sk 2], repeat [] until shell above the previous increase,  (sc + ch 1 + sc) in middle dc of shell above previous increase*, repeat * around, sl st in sc. 

***Repeat rows 12 -17 until row 40 is complete or until desired length.  Stop on a row 16 or 13 of the repeating rows.
